Benefice of Bootle, Corney, Whicham & Whitbeck

 Remembrance Services

Sunday 12th November

11.00am - St Michaels, Bootle

4.00pm - St Mary's, Whicham

Welcome to the website of the churches of Bootle St Michael and All Angels, Corney St John the Baptist, Whicham St Mary and Whitbeck St Mary. We are a chain of small Anglican churches spread between the sea and the fells around the foot of Black Combe, serving the farms and villages of the area. Our website gives information about our churches, our worship and the services we offer to our communities.

Our churches are part of the Calder Deanery in the Diocese of Carlisle and the South Calder Mission Community.

We are delighted that the Bishop of Carlisle has appointed The Revd Angela Overton-Benge as Assistant Priest (House for Duty) in the Black Combe Benefice and the South Calder Mission Community.

Angela was previously non-stipendiary Associate Anglican Priest at All Saints, St Augustines and St Barnabas, Swindon and Operations Director of Swindon Commercial Chaplaincy Charity.  She will be licensed to her new ministry by the Bishop of Penrith, the Right Revd Robert Freeman at 7pm on 5 October 2017.

During this period of change we are supported by the Rural Dean Revd Allen Banks, and members of the clergy throughout the Deanery and the Mission Community who are helping with the services and the administration of the parishes.  Please click here to see the services and events scheduled for the next months .
